  • Gateway of India, Mumbai. Built to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to Bombay. A hawker questioningly announced “balloon” and as I looked up I saw him holding a six foot high balloon full of gas. I am not sure it would have been classified as hand luggage on my upcoming flight so I declined to his apparent surprise.
  • Big Chill Goa, Aswem Beach. 3 day music festival in a glade next to the beach.
  • Yoga Classes, Palolem. An introduction for me but quite enjoyable and something I will seek to continue.
  • Goan Beaches, Palolem, Candolim, Baga, Anjuna, Vagator. There’s a beach to suit everybody and every mood.
  • Hampi and Virupaksha Ruins, Karnataka. Sacred Hindu village and temple complex set amongst an extraordinary landscape and wider set of ruins. Incredible.
  • Elephanta Island, Mumbai Harbour. Find a breeze on a ferry ride to the island and then escape the heat in the depths of the Elephanta caves. Their focal point, a giant 5 headed Shiva carving set into the heart of the stone.
