- Si Phan Don, take a boat to the 4000 tiny islands on the Mekong, get a hut with a balcony and hammocks and let Laos take you gently by the hand and lead you away to dreamlike realms. The only difficulty is remembering to leave.
- Tad Lo and the Bolaven Plateau, giant shelf like waterfall, ovelooking miles of flat lush countryside.
- Wat Phu Champassak, Khmer ruin set into Mount Phu Kao (a very large Linga). Pre-dates the Angkor temples.
- Wat Sok Pa Luang, Vientiane. Vipassana Buddhist Meditation session in a Wat complex, followed by a herbal sauna, massage and tea in a tree house. Afterwards you might find yourself thinking your life pretty virtuous.
- Pha That Luang, Vientiane. Gleaming golden 16th Century stupa in the heart of Vientiane.
- Plain of Jars, Phonsavan. Estimated at being set in positon between 1500 and 2000 years ago, the purpose of the large stone jars is not entirely known. Perhaps urns or utilised for food.
- Luang Prabang, an interesting town of French classical architecture. Rather touristy, but a great resting place, perhaps for a little luxury.
