  • Cape Byron, 28°37′58″S, 153°38′20″E, is Australia’s most Easterly point. A rocky headland with a lighthouse mounted upon it. Awesome power of the South Pacific Ocean displayed as waves crash relentlessly into the cliffs below. Distant sightings of migrating Hump Back Whales.
  • Nimbin, a small village in NSW, which I coined Nimbin Hippie Reserve as visiting felt a bit artificial. Famous for alternative culture, it felt a little too much like a zoo, the goods on sale were not at hippie prices and the hippies themselves, dare I say, were a bit washed up.
  • Salt Beach, NSW. Miles of trance inducing flat white sands and crashing waves. With only a handful of holiday makers and kite surfers for company.
  • Surfer’s Paradise, Gold Coast. Rather touristy and quite a shock to me as far more of an alcohol culture than anything I had experienced for a while. For a BIG night out drinking schooners, you are in the right place.
  • Bondi Beach, South of Sydney. Immediately obvious why Bondi is so renowned. Aesthetically pleasing, a small seaside town set around cliffs and golden sands. Touristy but part of it’s charm.
  • Dhee Why, a more relaxed version of Bondi, great views of the bays around Sydney from up on the clifftop. A saltwater swimming pool is situated down by the sea.
  • Manly Ferry and Sydney Harbour, taking this ferry into Sydney gives a refreshing, windswept view of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House. I liked the juxtaposition created when up close to the Opera House as it is quite industrial looking, compared with the elegance it displays from a distance.
